I stare up at the stars
I wonder just where you are
You feel a million miles away

Ok these days, I realised that Roger Federer has been taking a lot of stick from the media. Suggestions of this being the end of "King Roger's" era and that Nadal being the next "king of tennis" have been made. Yes, I agree that Federer has not been his usual best this year and that he is probably down on his form. He has not been hitting the ball as confidently and strongly as he has been doing like forever... However, I feel that it is way too soon to start jumping to conclusions that Federer is done and is ready to be pushed over by Nadal. Ok he has not won a grand slam this year yet and early predictions that he might win all 4 grand slams this year have been shot down... Yet the fact is... Federer is still the No. 1 seeded player in the world... The statistics speak for themselves... He is a 12 time grand slam winner and has held the No.1 position for a record 232 weeks. No one comes close to his point total and this translates out so that even if he does not win a grand slam this year, he will still go into 2009 as the no. 1 seed in tennis. This is how good Federer is and how unfair his critics are. Just because of a recent loss of form, the media has been jumping on their toes making baseless accusations. There is absolutely no denying the amount of effort and dedication that Federer has put into the sport and from the way he played against Nadal during Wimbledon 2008, I must say he is still playing best tennis and is not ready to step off the pedestal. Sorry Nadal... Maybe you'll have to wait another 3 years or so before you can get that No.1 seed... because the Fed express is still going on.
